The Leibniz Association unites 86 independent research institutions. Their focus ranges from the natural sciences, engineering and environmental sciences, business and social sciences to the humanities. Leibniz Institutes work socially, economically and ecologically relevant questions. They operate knowledge-and application-oriented basic research. They maintain scientific infrastructure and provide research-based services. The Leibniz Association sets priorities with knowledge transfer in the direction of politics, science, industry and the public. Leibniz Institutes maintain strong partnerships with the universities - including in form of campi of science - with the industry and other partners at home and abroad.
