Tropical Ecosystem Environment Observation by Satellites
The TREES Project was established in 1991 by European Commission's Joint Research Centre to collect accurate and up-to-date data of the Earth's tropical forest where and why forests are disappearing". This site describes the project, its objectives, activities, products and publications, with three continental sections; Latin America, Africa and South-East Asia. Each of these links to; cartographic digital products, identification of deforestation hot-spots, tropical forest change assessment with high- resolution satellite data, remote sensing sources, and related websites. Digital map data can be downloaded by anonymous ftp direct from this site. The TREES 2 results are just published . Significant publications & technical reports since 1998 can be accessed at this site.
